Construction Continues at 12th and Tell Streets!

Jasper Lumber has returned for the next phase of construction. Demolition of the roof was completed in Feb and March 2026 and have resumed application of the wood sheathing to repair the awning. At our May Member Meeting, TCRA Members helped vote for the finishes for the new building. Here is a recent update for our vision for a new cultural art center.

Recap: Phase One of this larger multi-million dollar project, the creation of a new community arts center, starts with a stunning open air, green space patio located at the corner of Tell + 12th St, directly across from Tell City Jr.-Sr. High School. Funded in Summer 2025 for a project total of $105,000 thanks to CreatINg Places, an Indiana program that uses crowdgranting (crowdfunding + matching grants) to fund local community projects. Managed by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and Patronicity, it provides matches from $5,000 to $50,000 for projects that enhance public spaces, such as parks, streetscapes, and, plazas, aiming to improve quality of place.

The site currently consists of a deteriorating building and overgrown lot, contributing to neighborhood blight. The Tell City Regional Arts Association plans to transform the existing buildings into a vibrant cultural hub featuring gallery space, classrooms, performance and program space, and a small black box theater. The center will serve as a catalyst for downtown revitalization and youth engagement, providing accessible arts education and programming for residents across the region. Primary partners include the Tell City Regional Arts Association, local schools, and community arts advocates.
